Her book is a great resource to point you in the right direction to attempt the journey to healing. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has been betrayed and traumatized by their husband/spouse.
I've tried several and all have a combination of good information and unkind assumptions about the "betrayer" or the mistress. I believe a book could easily be written that has all the good information without creating enemy images out of anyone. Best I have found is "State of Affairs," but hat book is more about giving a context for understand how rampant cheating is and how easy it is to accuse one party or another, but that never provides a holistic solution, nor is it fair. Most affairs are complicated. There are always at least 3 sides to the story. Let's stop pretending that the one who was betrays is the victim. S/he rarely if ever is. Everyone needs to step up. The kind of polarized messaging in this book and the other Post-Infidelity Stress Disorder book I read are likely to continue to create polarization between the two parties which makes family healing post-affair near impossible. I should know. My husband had a baby with another woman when our son was one. My marriage ended. I was devastated. If I didn't get out of my story that he was entirely at fault and I was the victim, we never would have healed. The rest of my life would have been scarred. But instead, I took 100% responsibility for my side (he is yet to do that) and have successfully created a mutually respectful and supportive co-parenting partnership that supports our son's happiness, success and well-being, which reviving his connection to family.
I wish I had read this four months ago right after I found out about my husbands affair. Reading it now has made me feel like I’m not as crazy as I thought. I am going hrough the healing stages and my husband and I are working on things so far going really well but I still have setbacks in my mind and this book made me understand that’s normal.

She does a wonderful job in portraying how psychologically your emotions and mind are going through a lot and gives real life examples that help you understand why you feel the way you do or why you have the thoughts you have through it all. Recommended to any woman who is dealing with their husbands affair, emotional or sexual, whether you plan on staying or leaving or just flat or don’t know what to do yet. Wonderful book!
Carolyn's books described what I was feeling perfectly. When I read the "About the author" I saw her practice was 5 min from my house! Needless to say, my husband and I have been seeing her since I read the last page! She's fantastic!

The author breaks down the steps to take to keep safe boundaries and also offers insightful perspective on what the cheating partner actually means when he says stupid things from a psychological perspective. This book is a must read for anyone who has been cheated on as she starts to recover from the trauma.
After learning about my husband's infidelity on Valentine's Day of this year I needed something to help me get over the emotional shock. I wasn't eating or sleeping and I felt anxious, fearful, angry, shaky and like I was drowning. This book helped me understand that all that I was feeling was normal. And I loved the section on The Stupid Things He Says and why he says them. My husband said almost every single one, but at least now I know why and what he was trying to say. This book helped me get calm and get the much needed sleep and food that I needed. It gave me hope for the future.
I found out 5 days ago that my husband is cheating when I finally figured out his sign on to his phone. The advice is helpful and I will implement these tips. He has expressed remorse by texts but not to my face, we will see.
