This book is absolutely a MUST HAVE. I have studied and purchased many paleo, keto, low carb high fat books over the last 3 years. Of course I've been disappointed often. This book is for everyone- the beginner or the expert. Maria you are just getting better and better. (and Craig too- LOL!)

Just received the book today and oh my gosh, I find that I cannot put it down! The book is so much more than a cookbook, it is a wealth of information which will no doubt help a lot of people, especially those that are just starting out on this journey. It actually explains the science behind this way of eating, and includes a meal plan which will be especially helpful to those of us that sometimes get overwhelmed.The food (pictures) look absolutely yummy, and one glance at the recipe reassured me that I could replicated it. The recipes are well explained, and some of them even have URLs listed for videos that accompany them. The recipes each have icons that are extremely helpful, one glance can tell me if the recipe is egg free, nut free, dairy free, vegetarian, can be made in a slow cooker, can be made in one pot, or has a single serving option. Since I am the only member in my family that is currently following this diet, the single serving option will be especially useful for me.When this book arrived, my husband rolled his eyes at me and asked "...another cookbook?". He then picked it up to skim through and almost immediately said "oooh, we'll have to try that chimichurri chicken!". For the record, this is my very first ketogenic specific cookbook and I loved it so much that I came back online and ordered the kindle version for my best friend. Well done, Maria...absolutely well done!Update: I've had this book for almost a week now, the recipes are FANTASTIC. I just made (and ate) the Key lime Fat Bomb (pg 340), ...it was absolutely spot on!!!! 98 calories, 9.4g fat, 0.3g carbs, 3.3g protein. (plus a bit of cream on it that I added). It TASTES absolutely sinful!

3 stars for misleading title. Since I already had TWO Maria Emmerich's (30 day Cleanse and Ketogenic Cookbook) with many complicated recipes, I wanted some quick and easy recipes...so I bought the eBook version of this Quick & Easy book. Based on the title, I thought I was getting a book full of QUICK to the table recipes....this book may be fast PREP, but it is NOT QUICK to the table! This is more of a comprehensive book that includes MANY recipes that aren't the least bit quick...slow cooker recipes, home-made sauerkraut that takes DAYS, 6-8 hour beef JERKY, Schweinehaxen that takes 6 hours, desserts that have to be cooled or frozen before eating. Honestly, many recipes look great, but I'm just so put off that the book is not as the TITLE implies. If you are like me, looking for Quick-to-table keto book THIS IS NOT IT. I recommend Martina Slajerova's book..it's called QUICK KETO: Meals in 30 Minutes or Less...very impressed, and happy that the book is what the TITLE says it is....uses standard supermarket groceries, you may just need erythtirol/Swerve for sweeter recipes. ( I am not affiliated in any way with Ms. Slajerova.)

I feel like I really lucked out on this book. My brother has been doing the Keto Diet for about 6 months and has been trying to get me to start. I found this book and just bought it with hopes that it would/could be something I could follow. I was not disappointed at all. It has 2 30-day sample meals for breakfast/lunch and dinner with all recipes in the book, it gives you a pretty good amount of detail on why to go Keto and what benefits it has and really the receipts are great. One of my favorites is the pizza. It is so crazy when you look at it, but I swear, you don't miss the crust (and I am an Italian who LOVES her breads!) The keto Ranch dressing was amazing and pretty easy to make. I definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to try out Keto.

I had mild expectations when I purchased this book. In my mind at the time it was another cook book. Once I opened the package, I was floored.1: The volume of recipes in this book is awesome. Once you get through the intro and "tutorials" you have a beefy 252 pages of recipes! Everything from sauces to desserts and everything in between.2: Vibrant pictures. This is common among cook books but just about everything has a picture.3: Ease of instruction. It's worth noting that the "tutorials" and information in the beginning of the book is worth the time. Do you have to read it to make something, certainly not. Yet, it will make things easier as you navigate though the tome and create the dishes.A word of caution on 2 fronts.1: Take your time with these recipes and follow the adjustments to the letter for ingredients that are substitutes for common items (ie: you will use MUCH less Stevia than sugar as a sweetener).2: Research on which type of Keto based diet you wish to follow. The 2 I recommend looking into are: The Carb Night Solution by John Kiefer and The Anabolic Solution by Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale. Both books are keto based diets, with a small variance between them.Happy eating!

This is a great cookbook to jump start your KETO life. The author also has a website (tons of other recipies and blog, videos on how to prepare some of recipes. This is the best comprehensive cook book I have ever had the pleasure to open. *I paid full price for this book. I've been able to lose 8lbs in 3.5 weeks and 5 inches off of my body by using these recipes and ones off of her Facebook page, website, and blog. As a RN I was looking for a way to get healthier and eat in a way that was sustainable and enjoyable for not only myslef but my family as well. Thank you Maria Emmerich! Great buy, must buy! I thought this was an excellent book. First of all, I enjoyed learning a little bit about Tibetan culture and history. But the story was absolutely phenomenal that the author not only cured himself of gangrene but he was able to "reconstruct" the ankle bone. He did not stop the conventional medicine and it appears that he continued to follow the doctor's prescriptions even after discharge from the hospital but he refused amputation and saved his leg through prayer and meditation. This was a great book to read after "You are the Placebo" by Joe Dispenza.

I have been grateful to receive Phakyab Rinpoche's teachings for many years, and have looked forward each year to the great insights he brings to my life. He is an incredible person, full of joy, empowerment, and humor. From these small group teachings, I've had the opportunity to discuss his past, his life, and tibetan buddhism, and he has always shared himself with such a beautiful accessibility.I have sensed a great depth of knowledge and life experience in him beyond what can be spoken in a few small conversations each year, and this book is the gift I have been hoping for, allowing me a better understanding of his earlier life, his training, and his philosophy. Aside from the lovingly-written profile of Phakyab Rinpoche's life, I have learned a great deal more about Tibetan Buddhism concepts and history in the book as well. Sofia Stril-Rever demonstrates skillful writing talent in bringing Phakyab Rinpoche's story to the world.The knowledge and understanding that Phakyab Rinpoche holds is powerful medicine, and I believe he and Sofia Stril-Rever have taken a great step forward in bringing important concepts and practices of healing, living and philosophy to the world.

I met rinpoche on jackon heights on my way to gym... i asked rinpoche if he is Phakyab Rinpoche and Rinpoche replied "yes" and i told him i'm reading "meditation saved my life" by sofia stril rever and i told him i'm halfway through... rinpoche gave me his number and the meditation center where he resides and said he'll be hojng France soon. Rinpoche is so humble and kind, he told me that the initial days were very hard... i told him my parents were from mustang and Rinpoche replied mustang is so similar like Tibet and that he wishes to go there someday. I replied to rinpoche, "may be we'll visit together some time since i was there just 6 months ago." He is so kind and talked to me like a son. As we were crossing the pedestrian line, rinpoche held me back for the car to stop before we proceeded. His love and compassion struck me deeply...

This man is a living saint. His story could not be more compelling, and his integrity and vulnerability make the mystery of his healing totally believable. I was amazed by his sense of humor and playfulness in the midst of dealing with so much physical suffering. And I was infuriated by the "medical establishment," which discounted what Rinpoche was able to do through self-healing that they were unable to do with all of their surgeries and medications. The translator/co-writer is brilliant, deeply sympathetic, writes wonderful prose. I was totally inspired by this book.

I was deeply touched and inspired to read this. It's a powerful journey, gracefully carrying us through time, and through Tibet...and then through Rinpoche's incredible journey with life-threatening disease and complete healing without western medicine. I am a student of Phakyab Rinpoche. He recently showed me his new running shoes. May we all be inspired to know what is truly possible with a mind of great compassion and clarity! Thank you!!

This book has been so easy to follow and we've been happy with all the recipes we've tried so far. The ingredients are common everyday ones I had in my pantry and that makes it so much easier. My husband and I have both had success on the scale since we've started this and there is no reason why it wouldn't be sustainable after we reach our goal weights.

This book has some good information, especially for people just starting to eat healthfully. But I have been cooking at home for years and wanted new, tasty recipes that will not raise my blood pressure. So far, have tried two recipes and I am disappointed. Heavy on the cayenne pepper but no depth. And...authors assume everyone has a microwave, a food processor, an immersion blender and a stand mixer. I never had a stand mixer and gave away most kitchen gadgets when we down-sized our home.

This book is very well written and I love the fact the recipes are simple to follow and not complicated like many cookbooks.

Love the recipes Lots of variety and not too much information. I lost six pounds tge first two weeks and my bp dropped considerably. 124/73. I still take medication but i hope to stop soon. The book has been a great partner gor me. Recommend completely.

This book is organized very well between meal planning, breaking down grocery lists (making shopping easy) and even listing workout regimens to try. It is a non-intimidating, and easily spelled out reference for those looking to begin a “healthy lifestyle” change! The recipes are not only creative but healthy too, double win for all!

This is a definitely more than just a cookbook. This book is a guide to living a healthy lifestyle with exercise, good nutrition and homecooking. This book does not have a picture with every dish and so you have to imagine how some of the food will look like. But the main point of this book is not just a bunch of recipes for a healthy lifestyle, but a guide to turn your life a around with a combination of exercise, nutrition and healthy eating. This book does a very good job of holding your hand through the lifestyle change and ensures that you stick with the change by providing you day to day guidance for a month. I encourage people that want to life healthy, but are afraid or do not know how to change their nutrition habits to give this book a try.I received a free copy of the book. Okay Neal, what the hell were you thinking? HOW could you do this to me? Ima good person! I open doors for people, I smile at random people in the store, I always say please and thank you and I even make small talk with the weird over bearing cashier at the store I’m a damn good person and you throw THIS at me?!?!? How do you expect me to live with myself till book 3 comes out? Did you think about that? Did you think about ME!!! No!!! You didn’t! You only thought about yourself! You selfishly know everything that is going to happen in this series and what do I know? Not a fricken lot!!! You are just sitting happily in your comfy chair in your big posh office while I am laying on my love seat wrapped in a blanket rocking myself to sleep cause of that ending... THAT FRICKEN ENDING!!!! Well I sure hope you’re happy Neal!!!!! Cause I’m not!!! I won’t be happy again until book 3 comes out and that is on you! THAT IS ON YOU!!!!

To be honest, it took a bit for "Thunderhead" to click with me, but my son kept saying, "wait for it, just wait, you'll know when it happens." Well, it just happened and now I'm looking at the clock because there is no way I'm putting this down now. It's going to be a long night!4 HOURS LATER: For me, "Scythe" felt very much like Citra's story, so for "Thunderhead" I kept waiting for development for Rowan. We see a little of him as Scythe Lucifer, but supporting characters got a lot more time. And Rowan's plot certainly happens but it's far later in the book than I was expecting. Instead, we are introduced to another character, Grayson Tolliver, who serves some greater purpose. So his chapters, and another side plot, just felt like they derailed the momentum at times and it would take several chapters before we were back with Rowan. So the pacing was just slightly off, but not too much to take away an entire star. But the ending more than made up for the slower start...WOW!!! I agree with my son that this was an excellent read, maybe not my best read of the year as he's declaring, but Arc of a Scythe and Neal Shusterman are one of my best discoveries of 2018. Now both he and I are sitting here processing the novel, that ending, and agonizing over how long we'll have to wait for the finale.P.S. I would like to start the campaign for a prequel about Scythe Curie's early days.

I liked book 1. I LOVED book 2. I can’t say enough good things about this book. The world building continues as questions that you might have had in book one get answers or at least addressed. Like what about people who just like rebelling? Who is the Thunderhead? Is it a god? What does ultimate power or eve lack there of do to people?A new character named Greyson is introduced. He’s really cool as well despite me usually getting annoyed in sequels that suddenly seem to vary off into too many other directions with too many new characters. Greyson just works somehow.The end...I won’t spoil it but wow. I was not expecting that. Not at all. How soon is book 3 out?? Also the narrator, Greg Trembly for the audio of this book is one of the best. I alternated back and forth between the print and the audio, but usually wanted to hear him because he made the characters come alive.

Now that you can reset your age to 21 and up, they needed to create a way from over population and that's where the scythes came in. Not just anyone could be a Scythe. Matter of fact, they tried to choose people who didn't want to be one, people that were against gleaning (killing), and those with compassion and empathy.While the Thunderhead controls and handles much of everything, they have no emotions or feelings so the Scythedom was created.Citra and Rowan was totally against gleaning which is why Scyth Faraday choose them to be his apprentices. Both will have to go through extensive training and many test to decide who will end up being the best scythe. Knowing how much they will lose if they fail, they both put all they had into it. Who will come out on top when a stipulation has been thrown in the mix?When one is given too much lead way, is it possible to do what is right? To do what you want, knowing it's wrong, will you do wrong anyway, knowing you may not be penalized?Thunder heads who punish the "unsavories" (people who committed crimes) and set the rules to abide by, and sees and know everything has no jurisdiction when it comes to Scythes. But like anything else, there are always loopholes and the Thunderhead is one slick dude, or should I say thing?In a world that started out perfect; one that conquered death and controls over population, is it too good to be true? Will the people of this world abide by the rules? Do they have a punishment in place for those who don't? How successful can it be if The Thunderhead controls some aspects and The Scythes control others, yet they can not communicate with other for beneficiary info? Will the new fierce Scythe be able to get them where there need to be? Will the vilgilante of The Scythes scare them to be exactly what they are called to be?Anastasia and Lucifer knows it's some wrong doing among them and they will stop at nothing to bring everyone to justice.Two newbies brought into The Scythes lives that were trained by some of the best is now a force to be reckoned with!I know a book 3 has to be in the making and I am so ready for it!5*
