I'm an intermediate level LR user so I don't need to look up lots of things. I guess this book is ok but I find that I can look up things much faster via Google search. I know this is his style but this book is way too chatty. I'd also prefer that, where ever possible, instructions be given in bullet format rather than as a paragraph. Show me the facts. I don't need all the dressing.

I taught myself Lightroom form his major book, and this none helps me rapidly find a currently needed feature rather then wade through the major book.

Scott makes solving and learning simple.

Great reference manual.

First of all, I like the scope of this book: Kelby covers everything from how to upload and organize your photographs to how to print, make slideshows, use light room on your mobile device, how to manage third-party plug-ins, and much more. The author advises not to necessarily read the book in order, but to use it as you need it.I’ve been working on Photoshop into with iPhoto for years but have not had the confidence to use Lightroom. I love that the first section of the book is son how to get your images into Lightroom. Since that is where beginners need to begin :-) I appreciate the fact that he’ll be uses screenshots of the actual light room tools when he explains how to do something. Makes it clear if you can’t always understand the text.Bonus that Kelby explains how to add copyright information as we import our photos-it’s a pain to put a copy right into each photo individually. I was especially interested in his section on how to organize photos and I was not disappointed. For example, he has a subsection on organizing large shoots and also one on creating a collection of your best photos, which I think is a sterling idea.Fun that he discusses how to make photo books and slideshows from your pics-not something I usually considered doing, but it is tempting after reading his descriptions. Kelby's section on editing in Lightroom is also broad in scope and covers just about any thing I can think of in the editing area. For example, he teaches us how to do batch editing, customize the white balance, correct for haze in the photos, etc.Kelby has a sense of humor that he expresses in his writing which is fun, and one of the reasons I always enjoy his books. For example, in the section on making a photobook, he says that he would run from any photobook covering macro shots of insects :-) Funny for me, since that’s one of my favorite things to do-shoot bugs!Toward the end of the book Kelby tells us how to use Lightroom on our mobile devices-a very clever thing to teach us. It’s a rare person who doesn’t carry a mobile device today. He goes into a lot of detail about mobile devices such as creating albums, importing and exporting the photos, and even how to allow a friend to look at your photos on your phone without “messing it up” :-)At the end Kelby covers miscellaneous issues which are, nonetheless, quite useful: how to work with third-party plug-ins, which I do frequently; editing videos in Lightroom, and even tells us when we need to go to Photoshop to edit our photos.I have read other of Kelby's photography books and consistently find him a pleasure to read and useful. I retain all of his books in my photography library because I like his work. This book is not an exception to the rule-it’s just as good as his other ones and I look forward to using Lightroom regularly, with Kelby‘s assistance.

Hands down my favorite paranormal series!! That being said... I feel like I was shortchanged on this book... Where is the HEA for Sola and Assail?? What is going to happen as she ages?? I also felt with the build up to Vishious and Jane's added storyline that it fell flat!! They had one conflict and then pretty much everything was fine... I understand the need for future stories/books but seriously this was a let down and my very least favorite of ALL Ward books.

Possible spoilersI love diving back into this universe. No matter who the story focuses on, I just love the BDB world. I guess it probably depends on whether you’re a Vishous fan or not, how you will embrace this story. I love Vishous, he’s my favorite brother, so I loved his and Jane’s story line. And I think it was handled well. I think Vishous was sufficiently repentant, and I think both of their issues were brought to the forefront and dealt with. And to those who say Vishous was not his old self, I say that he’s evolving and that’s a good thing.I also loved Assail and Sola’s story, but like many readers, I’m concerned about how their future will work out.I think this was a transition book of sorts. Seems like we’re on the cusp. New enemy, new deity, possible new surgeon (maybe Manny/Butch/Jo Early’s father), Murhder. I’m dying to know who stole the book!I loved the funny moments! The turkey/stuffing/mashed/no veggies scene between V and Phury was hysterical, as well as the My Little Pony PJ pants.I thought some of the scenes were a little too drawn out, focusing too much on the setting. Ms. Ward has too much story to tell to need any filler. But maybe I was just too anxious to get to the action. Can’t wait til the next book!

I have been a huge fan of The Warden and the BDB for many years. Her books have been entertaining, gritty, sexy, funny, and well written. So imagine my disappointment in The Thief. I felt like I was reading a washed out "Harlequin"'romance styled BDB. Many many plot holes, inconsistencies, and what felt like to me, a kind of bored contempt for her characters and readers. This is the woman who wrote "Dark Lover"? I am extremely disappointed in this book.

I love vampire romances! This used to be my absolute favorite vampire series, and Lover Awakened is one of my all-time favorite books. The premise of this book did not particularly appeal to me, but I bought it for the nostalgia of the series. The heroine, Sola, wasn’t very compelling - pretty and tough but immoral and insecure. The hero, Assail, wasn’t much better - handsome and paranormal but weak. They had little chemistry and no sizzle. The storyline was complex and unpredictable. Overall, not a bad book but never caught fire for me.

I just don't know what I've read. It surely can't be a J.R. Ward book. It was so boring. But, then again the Chosen was a huge disappointment. BUT, Blood Fury was excellent. I am starting to wonder if The Warden is spreading herself too thin writing 3 different releases a year. There are tons of inconsistencies, that I am not going to get into, but I will say references to current shows and music shouldn't be referenced when the timeline is a a few years behind the present year.I am seriously wondering if the Warden is using a ghost writer. The writing and story doesn't FEEL like her. There isn't the "grab" and "spark" that sucks you in like the previous few books. It almost feels like "fluff". I would rather see the series end on a good strong book, than be strung along with books that just don't hold your attention any longer. I WANT to be excited for a J.R. Ward release again. I have 10 years invested in this series, I LOVE these characters. Please don't show a disservice to them by writing fluff. The men are the badasses any longer. They are singing Moana songs, and wearing MLP pants! I want the grit and the fighting and rough sex back!

I never know with J. R. Ward books if I'm giving it 4 or 5 stars because there is something that annoyed me so much during the reading that I can't ignore or I loved it so much that I can't think of anything that I didn't like. This book is more of a 3.5 read just because I am so over and done with the Vishous stuff. Like I posted on my Instagram, Ward should just kill the male and be done with him. What I did love about this book was Sola and Assail's story. I know many will disagree with me but I think every story so far has developed at the exact time it should and this one is no different. Assail needed to clean himself of his addiction and Sola needed to see him almost dying for this couple to appreciate what they have or could have. What I like about this books is that we see a side to this characters that is sweet but, even with the women, it does not make them weak and vulnerable, on the contrary, it gives them character and make them feel more real. I can't wait to see what this new turn in the war will bring and how some of the secondary stories will develop further in upcoming books.

I loved this book! Ms. Ward has a knack for taking paranormal characters and making them human. Their feelings, their reactions, everything that makes them who they are is exactly how you would expect someone to act in any given situation. The anger at betrayal, the accusations when you can't admit what's really wrong, forgiveness in love...this book was a wonderful example of that talent.While this ostensibly was Assail and Sola's story, there was still a whole story line dedicated to V and Jane to make the die hard fans of the original Brothers happy. Each one was so well written that I was extremely impressed at the way everything was woven together. Even the ancillary character's stories we well-told and fit into the story in such a way as to seem like a perfect fit.This book harkens back to the first few BDB stories and reminds me again why I love this series so much! I highly recommend this book!

This book is more than a masterful collection of gorgeous textiles and fascinating stories, woven into a central theme. I gave it a friend, whose family escaped from Tashkent in the 1980s. Her parents had never told their children about their past. But in keeping with the textile tradition, her mother had brought silk ikats with her to New York, expecting to make a dowry for her daughter. All the fabrics remained in tissue paper, unused. Her mother gave me one of the pieces, five yards of heavy silk ikat in brilliant colors, woven in the warp-faced "atlas" technique. The family has gathered around the book again and again. Slowly the stories of their past are coming out. My friend can't wait for her children to get old enough to visit Tashkent. Before that, they're going to visit cousins in London who attend the Bukharan synagogue. This book is planting seeds. It's not only beautiful, it's meaningful.

The images and colors are very good and so is the variety of Uzbek and Turkman clothing and textiles.That said, I think the book caters for the novice, somewhat like a coffee table book and is not interestingenough for the antique textiles collectors and scholars.

Susan Meller has once again done an excellent job. This book expands on the information presented in her book on the Russian textiles produced to the Central Asian Trade. I recommend this book to both the enthusiast and the novice.

Best book in years on the fascinating and complex world of Central Asian textiles. Meller's thorough study of archival sources along with her deep understanding of textile production in the region combine to make this an important contribution to the field. Her selection of photographs, both modern and vintage are also well chosen. These especially are helpful in understanding the way the textiles were made and usedThe range of textiles illustrated, especially embroideries, is quite extensive. Anyone with an interest in collecting Central Asian textiles, whether in Central Asia or the west will find this book an essential guide to the vast array of examples available today.It was both a pleasure and an education to read. Highly recommended!

I just finished perusing this book which was recommended to me by a colleague in Berkeley, California. She knew I had a love of Central Asian textiles and the attendant symbolism. I found so many pieces that I have owned or currently own in my own collection explained and contextualized here in a way that is definitive and fascinating. Not only that, but Meller's inclusion of historical photographs transported me to another era and life where these colorful patterns held profound significance and meaning in the subjects' everyday lives. This tome is beautiful, and I heartily endorse it to anyone. I am also thankful to my friend (who sold it to me) for suggesting it!

Silk and Cotton is a stunningly beautiful masterpiece about everyday textiles from the former Silk Road. This narrative tells a story of a faraway place and time using hundreds of archival photographs, maps, postcards, paintings and everyday textiles to illustrate her point. This is a MUST-HAVE book for anybody interested in textiles and understanding everyday life along the Silk Road.

I received the package and the tab for the code was already opened, meaning someone had previously used it. Regardless, I tried registering the access code, and Pearson informed me that it had already been used. I really needed to register for MyStatLab ASAP and ordering this and waiting for it was a complete waste of my time.

Many students need to buy these access codes and barely have the money to do so. Professors barely use them or tell students to buy them because the school requires them to. Even when used, it is not worth the price. Professors put some quizzes and homework on mymathlab but usually use paper or other online resources. LOWER THE PRICE.

my issue is not with the product. the peel off strip was half off so it looked at first as if it were used, but it ended up being new thank goodness. my main compalaint is with the shipping. i paid for expedited shipping the morning of tues. 9/11/12 the estimated arrival was either 9/13 to 9/14. it did not arrive until monday 9/17/12. i would not have paid for the extra amount if i had known that it would be late. and i missed my first assignment which was due sunday nite for class because i was not able to start without student kit. i am not sure if i will buy a book from this seller again, if i do it will be when there is no deadline for anything.

Without this kit I would be lost in my math classes. I took Precalculus for business and science this semester and I admit that this product helps me review my tests and quizzes and I get better grades each time. This kit has also helped me with some of the previous classes that I took as well (ex. Algebra 2 and Intermediate Algebra).DO NOT BUY IF YOUR TEACHER DOES NOT HAVE A COURSE ID TO OFFER YOU THOUGH. I BOUGHT ONE FOR MY STATISTICS CLASS AND MY TEACHER DIDN'T PROVIDE US WITH A COURSE ID SO THE CODE WAS COMPLETELY USELESS TO ME. IT IS SAD BECAUSE SINCE I OPENED IT ALREADY I AM STUCK WITH IT.
