I'd give this book a 0 if I couldThis book is horrible and nobody should buy it. Anyone who buys this for their kids should be wondering if their kids read it as if they did they should be VERY confused if they did. I have a BS and MS in computer science and some PhD work, and bought it as although I some simple algebra commonly, I have forgotten much of the topics I learned 25 year ago that I don't use day to day and wanted to brush up so I could start brushing back up on calculus.When reading this book I started getting very confused as some (many) of the examples did not seem to reflect what the author was trying to write, and they made no sense and actually were WRONG.This seems to be because the typesetting is often not correct andrather than have something like 2 to the power of x they will write 2x. Unfortunately 2x is NOT 2 to the power x; it's 2 multiplied by x which is VERY VERY different than 2x. for example 5 to the power 2 (or 5^2) = 25; where as 5 times 2 (or 5 x 2) = 10.I spent more time being confused in the first 2 chapter of what the author was trying to say, and that is for concepts I ALREADY understand and remember well. I don't even know how one could possibly read this book and understand concepts that were new to them or that they were trying to learn/relearn if the text is so incorrect.even worse is the errors are inconsistent. on one line the typesetting is CORRECT, and on the next line it might be wrong making it basically impossible to follow unless you already know what is correct.I usually don't say bad things, but this book is horrible due to this reason. and I really would like to get my money back.While writing is hard and nobody is expected to be perfect, the sheer volume of errors is completely unacceptable. It as if nobody actually proofread the finished product. (I'm sure the author wrote correctly, but whoever converted it to the print product clearly was not consistent in typesetting) and that makes it really a useless book since if you read the incorrect examples as they are written it's literally saying incorrect things.)

Nice little book. That said, explains topics in a basic way, which it should do, however, no practice problems. A little short in information. And, doesn't follow the Algebra 1 workbook or Algebra 1 1001 practice problems format. If you are considering buying this book, buy the Algebra 1 workbook instead as it has much more information and practice problems with it, plus, it follows the Algebra 1 1001 Practice Problems book format exactly.

This book did not provide formulas and how to steps like I have experienced with other books. My son had to teach himself 8th grade math this summer to get in an advanced class. I have used “books for dummies” previously with great success. As I don’t use advanced math daily, I need examples. This wasn’t the full book of how to & practice questions I expected. It is useless. We survived without using it. After skimming through it once, I was immediately disappointed in my waste of money.

The rendering for the digital version does not always present exponents in superscript. So 2 to the 10th power reads as 210. This can be very confusing. If you are attempting to learn algebra, or refresh your memory of algebra, the material can already be confusing enough. Mistakes like this in a book that is trying to teach math are not acceptable. I wish I could return it and get my money back.

My son needed to brush up on his math so he got this to help. He is still working on it. It's helping to bring back alot of what he didn't know that he had forgotten.

No worksheets or problems in the book, it literally just shows you how to do problems, but there no way to test if you have actually understood it or not.

Written well and understandable, it didn't match the math I was learning.

Definitely helps make you understand the math

Bought this as a gift for a 5 year old’s birthday, and he loved it! He can’t read just yet, but his older brother read it to him, and they both spent the better part of the party enjoying the book together. It has interesting facts about various turtles, and lots of great pictures, so the 5 year old enjoys looking at it even when no one is reading it to him. Great for older ages as well. My own children have some of these Nat Geo Readers as well, and they’ve always enjoyed them. They make so many different ones, so if there’s an animal your child is just crazy about, you’re bound to find a book about it.

The best series ever for young readers. It is very hard to find books for young readers that are based on the natural world. The photos are beautiful, the storyline is full of accurate, interesting, scientific facts about the creatures, and has a vocabulary building review at the back of the book. And each book in this series has several upside down jokes that reference the animal, an added point of interest for Montessori and all children. BTW, I have gotten more than 30 of these books for my classroom. Highly recommended!

My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!

Bought a bunch in this series for my nephew who is eager to read and starting kindergarten this month. It's fun to read these together and talk about the topics as we go. More than once he has chimed in with a fact of his own he learned some were else. I love that these get him excited to read and learn in general.

My five year old LOVES to read and LOVES turtles! He LOVES this book! There are a lot of pictures for him to enjoy and enough for him to read.

Bought for a gift. Interesting little gift.The recipient loves turtles and enjoyed the gift.

I bought literally 30 of these for my niece who loves them. They are such a quick read beautiful pictures she cannot put them down. She has all of them I hope they make more.

What a game changer!The book works for anyone of any age. Pick it up find a few principles you can quickly integrate into your life and go from there. Add more as you see fit.Here are some I decided to integrate immediately, after tossing my “To Do” list for the calendar:#27 – Choose To Be Happy – I never thought of it as a choice, and I sure do now and it’s enlightening.#34 – Be Kind To Others – this should not need to be pointed out, however, when it is we take notice.#44 – Invest Early and Invest Often – fortunately my husband did this and I am grateful for that today. Fantastic book! Definitely helps boil down the whole nebulous process into easy, digestible chunks. I loved the emphasis on structured creativity, which both allows your mind to wander between interesting permutations and ideas and also keeps you on track. It's tough, but this is by far the best methodology i've seen, and I'd highly recommend others use it in their own naming quests.

Recently, I started a premium men's activewear brand and was really having a hard time coming up with a brand name that would really POP in such a hyper-competitive field.So I started Googling for every possible site on naming your business and I came across hundreds of articles. Unfortunately, 99.99% of all I found was useless. Then I heard about this book.Once I got it and read it, I literally said to myself..."I wish I read this book YEARS ago!"It's not a big book at all, which I think is a plus.Instead, it's a no-fluff guide to coming up with really awesome business names. Don't expect boring advice like adding "ly" or deleting vowels in your name like every other startup brand these days.With this book, you'll come up with shocking and fun names that really make you feel something once you read them.Apparently, the author is a former Ogilvy & Mather copywriter. So you're not going to get weird mathematical formulas either. She treats her brand names like she would a million dollar headline. It's all about emotions and being remembered.That means amazing brand names, which there are many examples of inside this book. There are also tons of examples of what makes a bad name. Honestly, this could have been called "The Definitive Guide To Coming Up With Amazing Brand Names Fast", because it is. Of course, its current title is better.With that said, I can't recommend this book enough.If you're looking to come up with a new business name, there's no better resource.

That means I no longer need to try to talk them out of lousy brand names, because in this book Alexandra educates them so clearly on how to pick awesome brand names. Even with my own decades of experience helping my clients pick and secure good brands, this book was full of surprises that changed the way I think (like not worrying about picking a second choice domain name for a first-choice brand). You know a book is great when your only complaint is that you wished for more. This has one very detailed case study in branding that is fascinating to follow, along with all the other lessons and examples.Before you spend another $10 on a domain name, or over $1000 on a trademark registration, buy and read this book (order copies for everyone involved in your company's branding process, too).

Alexandra Watkins give by far the clearest and most sensible approach I have seen on naming. I've looked at big, daunting guides, YouTube videos, articles, and other books. This is the first one that "feels" clear and resonant to me. She's gotten me thinking far beyond the obvious, descriptive (and boring) names I was coming up with, into the realm of fun, interesting names that can help give life to my company.

Should read this book. It's not only a great creativity book, it's a fun read to peek into a very specific industry I never knew existed! It's like stepping into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and shaking hands with the Umpa-Loompas, or at least tasting a Snossberry or two. Highly recommended to any person or company looking to stand out from the crowd and be unforgettable!

If you are a marketer, entrepreneur, or creator of any kind, you MUST BUY THIS BOOK. I have read gobs of books on branding and marketing. Alexandra Watkins has really done an amazing job of writing a book that sums up everything you need to come up with brand names that pack a punch. I have it handy at all times when brainstorming ideas. We used this book extensively when brainstorming names for our current company. Highly recommended!

If you are a marketer, entrepreneur or doing anything in with branding this book is a must read! I can not recommend it enough. I personally went through three name changes with my company and this book would have saved me thousands of dollars in rebranding. You don't have to dish out 10k-50k to a firm to come up with a brilliant name for your next product or company because Alexandra shares her entire recipe for creating kick ass brand names so you can do it yourself.

Even if you've been in the industry a while (Me, 20+ years), you'll find Alexandra's advice and techniques to be useful. This book covers both the strategic and tactical sides of naming, including better idea generation methods than you're probably use now. Quick read, too. Her writing style is as clean and simple and her brand names are. Highly recommended.
