I was expecting much more from this book. It is extremely basic and taught me very little. If you are interested in the subject you probably already know most of the information in this book. It seems filled with pretty photographs of animals, but the photos of the tracks being analyzed are hard to see. I bought the hardcover rather than the Kindle version because I wanted the photos to be easily seen and in color. It didn't help much. I don't recommend it but I don't know of anything better either.

This is a good book for folks to learn some of the art of tracking. I think that it should have had more smaller game in it that people will encounter so they can actually use the book to learn about. Recommend eliminating animals like the SnowShoe Hare, Caribou and Jaguar that most people will not encounter and adding Turkey, Red Squirrel and Grouse. Also think the infomation on Scat should be expanded.

I bought this book to add to my collection of tracking books. I enjoy tracking and love to introduce others to the art. This book will help me do that. It's nicely laid out, with photos and illustrations to show the concepts. Tracking will help you be more aware in nature. If you have never had any experience with tracking, get a book like this one and learn the key concepts. Then go out and practice. The photos of the tracks and signs in this book will help you recognize the things you find in the field. Compare the different tracks and learn the details that help identify each animal. This book is lightweight, so you could carry it with you. It is a large format (approx. 8.5"X11"), which would make it bulky in a backpack, but it would travel well on a day-hike. It would make great reading around the campfire after a day on the trail too. The price is just right too - not too pricey like many full-color books are. I run a lot of interpretive programs for young people and tracking is one of the subjects I cover frequently. I would recommend this book for any parent who wants to begin to introduce their child to tracking. You learn not only to identify the tracks, but how to follow the trails of the animals as well. This is a very fun activity to do with kids. Hunters will also enjoy this book for the many hunting tips it contains. Get this book, then go outside and have fun!

Still reading this one as it is very lengthy. That being said I, as a person from North Easter U.S. find it very insightful and helpful. I am not a big hunter nor do I read this stuff for future sport pursuits. I just think the more you know about what it around you the better. Good little bites to bring to the cocktail party too by the way. Example: Hey did you kow that wolves pee higher up the tree as they can so that they can appear larger than they are? Maybe that is why we miss the toilet so often?

I found this book to be very informative. I am new to walking through the woods looking for signs of animals and have found this book to be exactly what I was looking for. Easy to read with a lot of detail concerning the animal life in my backyard. I recommend this book.

Im interested in understanding more about the differences between animals especially elk and moose vs a deer for hunting and he spends little time on those things. I wanted more pictures and more ideas of what to look for to start. The reasons for animals smells which are hard to detect until you are super close anyways dont matter to a being tracker

the author did a great job with this book. It is well written and turns what could be a dry and boring subject into something interesting and fun. great information on tracking, as well as the behavior of most game you would track in north America.

After years of being dissatisfied with different paperback editions of Plato, I finally stumbled across this Dover Thrift Edition of Plato's four most essential biographical dialogues. Focusing on the life and person of Socrates, this razor-thin paperback volume is the most affordable and accessible introduction to Plato that you will find on the market. Rather than plunging you directly into the Republic and other more abstract writings, it wisely focuses on what we all love about Plato: His dialogues centering on the eccentric life and Christ-like death of his great teacher Socrates. This English translation is the old standard one, of course, but it's a wonderfully slender little volume that gives you enough Plato without overwhelming you. For those of us who like our Plato in small doses, rather than in a fat trade paperback (i.e. Signet Classics) or big expensive tome of collected writings, this volume is wonderful. In our electronic world, there's little need to have all the writings of Plato in one hardcopy edition anyway, as one will easily find several free and inexpensive translations of his entire corpus in electronic formats online.

Most philosophy books just present a stream of assertions and arguments that may of may not be organized into chapters. If you don't like reading what amount to court briefs, those books can be a pain to read.This book is nothing like that.The Dialogues are framed as Socrates's life story, complete with side characters, one-line-jokes, and dramatic tension. These things majorly elevate what would have been a dull slog through ancient Greek debates. You end up rooting for Socrates rather than just analyzing him. The final dialogue, in which he openly drops arguing in favor of simply stating his religious beliefs, is a little off, but the rest of the book is great. Easily the best I could expect out of a philosophy book.

Required reading for every living person.

I bought this book for a small philosophy class. The price made it affordable for me to provide the texts and the quality is also great! At first I was going to print the dialogues from the internet but this is more cost effective and gives the kids the actual book to keep.

Great dialogues, I will read them again, I like the way tis philosophers seeks the truth by asking again and again.

This translation and presentation is excellent. It is amazing to read it again and see that Athens and the hypocrisy of thought then is very similar to that of our own society currently.An enlightening read!

Beautiful and relaxing, as promised!

Hakuna Mandala Creative Coloring for Grown-Ups is a wonderfully mystical, fun, interesting and unique type of coloring book indeed! There are two of the same mandala's of each drawing; the 1st with a black background that reminds me of a black chalkboard which really makes the colors you choose POP brightly, and the 2nd is on a white background which gives you the option to outline the scenes in your own way and with the colors you want. This is a coloring book you will have to experience for yourself, especially if you enjoy coloring tiny and intricate details. This book is definitely for adults who have a lot of patience and an artistic flair! I totally enjoy this unique coloring book. The illustrator, Anthony Briggs, did an excellent job putting this special coloring book together! A+

I love this book.I first found out about it when Antony asked in a facebook colouring group what people wanted to see in a colouring book. I'm a ferret lover so I pleaded for ferrets or weasels. A short time later I was tagged in a weasel mandala which I adore.I love how there are 2 copies of each design. You can colour the greyscale image in a way where you can't see the lines giving it a unique look.The black background on the alternate heavy versions really make your colours pop . Especially if you use gel pens or markers.The mandalas in this book are so different to anything I've seen in other mandala books. They aren't all circular, they aren't all simple. Some are peculiar and some are beautiful.There are a lot of nature designs, which I love.There is one with insects that's really cute.Antony definitely has a creative talent for the peculiar and I love it.

Complicated Coloring has created some amazing adult coloring books within their collection. The Hakuna Mandala book has some pretty intricate designs, all of which are on a single sided page which makes it easy to tear our your favorite pattern to frame and gift.Each design is provided twice. It appears on a black background with strong edges or on a white background which is with very light edges.Each design takes a while to complete with all the little patterns within the shape. This is great for relaxing and destressing. I found using colored pencils looks much better than using markers or gel pens.I absolutely love that with the adult coloring books, there is no right or wrong way to color. I can let my imagination run wild and join colors together on the same page that I would never have used before.This would make a great gift for anyone in their later teens to an older adult. Gift it by itself or include in a gift basket with other Complicated Coloring adult coloring books.I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

For the last couple of years, I have been trying to understand what it means to live an integrated life. The book was very readable and will hold your interest, for the most part. The question is, will you finish it? Bonanno morphed the book, about 2/3's through, to whitewash his life. He glossed over the violence he used and embraced throughout his life. He spoke of his family as if they were the original "Cleavers" (leave it to Beaver).I'm of Sicilian descent. I remember my father and uncles speaking of the "mustache Petes", of the violence in my rural home town. Mr. Bonanno may have fooled himself with writing this book, but the facts of his life will haunt him forever in his afterlife.It has no been several days since I completed reading this book. I don't think Bonanno fooled himself: he knew exactly what he was writing and why he was writing it. It is us the readers that have been fooled that there is an ounce of honor in this killer. This is a book of lies and fabrications, with me left feeling I was taken by the purchase. Little tidbits throughout keep reappearing to me: a single sentence about protection, for example, where this "honorable man" felt it alright to prey on his fellow countrymen, by stealing a portion of their meager wages, in return for him (or his subordinates) not destroying the small life.Bonanno is a disgrace.

I, like many others, read with skepticism as Bonanno describes a fascinating life full of adventure and change in “the Volcano,” his euphemism for New York City. Bonanno’s detailing of the history of the Italian-American Mafioso inspires a sense of nostalgia that romanticizes “men of his tradition,” particularly Bonanno himself.While pop culture’s accounts’ of life in the mafia leads one to believe that nothing good can come from this way of life, Bonanno provides an alternative view spanning back to 19th century Sicily.I find it hard to believe that one could finish this book without questions about the validity of Bonanno’s portrayal, however, I find it as equally hard to believe that a true student of history, an untold history, to quote the popular Netflix series, would not find this book to be resourceful in helping to piece together the evidence about what it means to be an Italian, a Sicilian, and, more universally important, the power of the paternal influence on a community.While the book does not provide many answers about Bonanno’s criminal history, it provides rich biographical detail about the history of the American Mafia, largely centered around the northeast. This is a must read for those interested in the mystic of the mafia.

This is a autobiography and as such I was surprised to learn that Joseph Bonanno was a kind and gentle man but knew what the business he was in was all about. The book stresses that Bonanno tried to always live up to the name he finally received, "a Man of Honor," from the old country. But what amazed me is how the violence of his organization and his own violence was "cleansed" for him. This auutobiography was probably accurate and written to impress editors, but it flies in the face of the news reports and movies and books written about the Bonanno Crime Family of New York.

We (my husband and I) had great fun reading this and poring over pictures. My husband was an Irish child reared within a Sicilian family in South Philly. We saw and read stories of people he knew in the neighborhood; who, indeed, supported his mother and helped rear him. Uncle Tony bought his ticket to Woodstock. Uncle Tony was in the Family hierarchy and took care of the local neighborhood, supporting many poor Italian mothers and promoting Italian businesses. There's a picture of him in the book. He was not related to my husband genetically. There is prejudice in this ethnic culture; but if you become family, you are family. (Though my husband could never become a 'made man', thankfully.) I married into it; and I'm family. I hope this book has the effect of showing another explanation of those terrible battles in our major cities during Prohibition. There is still Family; but it has been changed by US corporate culture's individualism and it's encouragement of greed. Bononno shows how it happened; and the best of Sicilian Family culture. That said, it's the rest of the grisly truth he must have worked to leave out; that view we learned from TV and movies, that screams MISSING from this book. This is a good book that gives missing pieces; so glad to know this history. Maybe some very talented author, preferably from within the culture, can someday combine the two extremes that make up this culture and give a fuller picture.

Joseph Bonanno is simply not believable. He would have the world think he is an honorable man, but his evil duplicity is apparent in this vain attempt at autobiography.

I bought this book because I am in the process of conversion and I would like to embrace as many Jewish wedding traditions as I can when our big day arrives. While this book is a fun, easy read, I am not learning much about the why and how of these traditions. This book is almost like a couples crash course in relationships, with a little Jewish flavor and tradition thrown in. Throughout my conversion I've read several very helpful books that teach the why's behind traditions or details how-to's. This is more like a step by step planning guide for a wedding that happens to be Jewish. Still, I'm not super disappointed and I plan to finish it.

As an active participant in my father's marriage to my stepmother, I needed a resource for the ritual and blessings, especially my assigned parts. This was my primary source of several books I own.

The book is very informative. I found it very useful. Only thing was the order of the sections was a little awkward, but overall the content is great.

Very informative great book

This book is part of a series of hundreds of "everything" books on every imaginable topic. It is sensitively written, well-organized, and full of useful information. However, I was a bit disappointed. I had gotten from the library the earlier (1998) "The Everything Jewish Wedding book; the complete guide to planning the ceremony and celebration--from traditional to contemporary--for the most important day of your life" by Helen Latner. The book by Rabbi Shafner is called "2nd Edition" but it really an entirely different book. The Latner book was much more of a practical planning guidebook, including logs and checklists, samples of music contracts, a variety of invitation samples, etc. Rabbi Shafner mentions such things in passing with the advice that such tools are available in libraries and bookstores. Right, like the first edition.
