This covers everything and I thought it was perfect for my 4yo son who is having some trepidation about having a new sister soon. However, what I love about it, my sister-in-law was mildly horrified by... I like that it covers the basics--how the baby grows inside the uterus, how it is born, and then what it does through the first year or so. Nothing explicit, nothing involving where babies come from...However, my SIL's 7 year old niece saw the book and read it to herself. At one point she exclaimed "Oh so that's how it happens," and she quoted the book "the baby is born either through an opening between the mother's legs or through a cut on her belly" (I'm paraphrasing here). SIL snatched the book away and was pretty pissed at me.I had no problem reading that to my son, because that is how it happens. It's not sexual... they don't even say "vagina," but she didn't like that. So fair warning to the more conservative among you. It also shows a baby breastfeeding--I loved it, but again, you might not be comfortable discussing that with your kiddo, so....

This was the PERFECT book for our daughter when we told her that we were pregnant and she would be a big sister. I looked at several other books but none of them were appropriate for her age (7 years) - they were all much too young for her. This one is the perfect blend of good information, facts about babies, and light hearted enough to make sure that the older sibling knows he/she will still be loved even when baby comes. She still reads it often and it has helped her to become even more excited about being a big sister. HIGHLY recommend for older first time siblings!

Great! Bought it for our five year old, who will be a big sister in a couple weeks. It covers EVERYTHING, without going into gruesome detail (the baby eats and breathes through the umbilical cord, and is pushed out through an opening between moms' legs, or lifted out through a special cut made by a doctor in moms' bellies). Love that it covers that newborns are weird-looking, and don't understand that it hurts when they pull your hair. It also emphasizes that Older Sibling will still get love, attention, and hugs after the baby comes home, and that it's normal to have LOTS of different feelings about the new baby. Just be sure to discuss them with your parents.Reading this book aloud with our daughter has encouraged her to ask a lot of great questions that I don't think she would have felt comfortable with earlier, and I feel like she's a lot more prepared for the transition now.I will definitely be recommending it to my friends who are expecting!

Helped to ease son's mind. Our son is 4 years old and this really helped him to calm down and understand what is happening with baby in mom's tummy and what to expect. It has pictures of what the baby looks like in mummy's tummy (floating in the womb with an umbilical cord). Briefly abut delivery (between mommy's legs or surgery). And then what to expect after baby is born. It's very straightforward so if you want to avoid a biological explanation then I wouldn't recommend this. However, my son loved this book and it was exactly what we as parents were looking for to provide age appropriate information. It was written in a simple way for him to understand and fun enough to keep his attention.

Sturdy book with nice illustrations, a variety of families are shown thoughout the book so there’s something for everyone. I returned it though because it was a little too mature with some of the details and illustrations. It was a gift for my niece so I wasn’t comfortable giving her a book that may bring up the “where to babies come from” questions before her parents are ready to address it. Had it been for my own child, I would have probably waited until he/she was closer to 8 or older. It’s not done distastefuly, just a bit more imformative than I wanted for a fun book for a young child.

Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention to the description, but this book is not what I was expecting. It was BORING for my 5 and 3 year olds. The title drew me in and made me think it was going to be a funny bedtime book with some basics about what kids can and can't do with a baby, but it dragged on and on with facts, and we all lost interest. My kids love long bedtime stories, but this just didn't work for us.If you're looking for factual details about what will happen when the baby comes, this is a great book! It really explains things in a nice way that kids can understand. It's not a bad book, just be aware that it's more factual than fun.

Very valuable in teaching my 4 year old what to expect when her sister came. I appreciate that both vaginal and c-section deliveries were included as my delivery turned from one into the other. I also appreciate that breastfeeding is included, along with a picture. The book is straight forward and informative without being overly complicated or gruesome. A great addition to the library!

This was great! A ton of info so younger or more distractible kids might enjoy it broken up a bit. Super informative, sparked a lot of conversations and gave my daughter a tiny bit of pause on welcoming her baby brother lol. But that's ok because she's so over the moon excited that a little realism now will save us some shock later! Nothing scary or doom and gloom. Things I wouldn't have thought to warn her about like funny shaped baby heads, the gross umbilical stump were covered. I loved this kind of book as a kid during any life change and would circle back and read them again and again. Very glad we brought this one home!

I bought this for my sister's bridal shower. We set colored pencils around and I had made copies of some of the pages to set at the tables. Everyone loved coloring and sharing their pictures. It kind of worked as an icebreaker for the people. My sister loved the book! The illustrations are so pretty. There are some very detailed pictures and some that are more simple, so even her flower girl colored a picture.

If you like to color this is a wonderful coloring book for adults! Each page is beautifully designed and illustrated. I am enjoying each picture that I am do. Coloring is even more enjoyable with this book!

This makes coloring easier for both left and right handed colorists, with the spine not getting in the way. The covers are done in white with black printing and a bit of light pink, giving this book a look of simple elegance. The illustrations have a nice balance of detail and open spaces, making this great for most colorists. The intricacies are only a small portion of the designs, so those with minor vision or dexterity difficulties should be able to color these fairly easily.Additional pages include: an introduction, colorist name page, information about the author, coloring hints and tips, page for practicing your strokes, shading or testing your colors. There is also a blank page you can use for testing colors or as a blotter to prevent bleed through to the next page when using markers. Paper weight is traditional, 55# medium weight paper. You can use most coloring media on this paper, but when using wet media, use water sparingly to avoid significant wrinkling or damage. If using markers use a couple extra sheets behind your work to prevent bleed through damage to the next page. There is 1 blank page included you could use towards this purpose if you wish.This book is suitable for all ages.

I think this book is definetly worth the investment. This book reminded me of the book called "The Black Male Handbook" in a sense that it gave alot of suggestions on what literature to read as an African American. I love a book that can keep your interest and this was it. I would put this in the hands of any black H.S or college student to read. Unfortunately I didn't read this until I was 32 lol.

I can't believe I'm just reading this book. Wow! I have underlined so much of this book, I definitely could not resale it. I don't intend to anyway. It deserves its rightful place on my limited book shelves.There were a few annoying instances though. For example, him going on and on about his diet and what we should eat. For me, this was his opportunity to talk about this subject, even though it was not related to the topic at hand. However, I forgive him. He is only human and I suspect I would have done the same if there was something that was dear to me and I wanted to get out to the reading public.I recommend this book to every man, woman, child of African desecent in America. It's an easy and valuable read.I would recommend after reading this book to read Ann Petry's The Street. It is directly related to the topic of hand.

I discovered the book when I was a sophomore in college. Everyone needs a road map and plan to achieve in life. While my father was a fantastic role model and working man (Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 49 years). I still needed to understand the depths of what it means to be a man. The book was a journey and discovery in one passage. THE DEFINITION OF BLACKMANHOOD page 16. To this day, I give the book to young African American males who are finding their way out of high school and into college in hopes that they will find their way into the true light of what being an African American man in America.

Growing up, I always heard people say, "Oh this book changed my life." naming Richard Wright's Native Son or others. But I never had that feeling until I read this book when I was 21. Being a History major and African American studies minor, I am deeply inquisitive of the past and the connections that it has on today. This book gave the most in-depth coverage as to what exactly the ROOT problems ans causes of our condition.It is an ESSENTIAL read for Black people, especially Black men because this book creates the space for the Black man to form an identity historically while ensuring that identity is best for himself and his community.

Book is a negative look on black men and how they were treated. Wanted to read it to find out why our black men are in prison but it kinda discourage me do to the negative views. Instead of lifting black men up it seems like the author wanted to get them mad all over again.

The book is very well written and raised my level of knowledge and consciousness about the subject.

Great read for the melinated brothers out there. Really good book and strongly recommended.

This is a cute little booklet and is inviting to flip through. It has diagrams and directions for 29 stitches from the standard French knot, cross stitch and chain stitch to Roumanian, pistil stitches and spider web rose. My go-to stitch to evaluate the worth of a stitch guide is how it handles the bullion knot. If you stretch out the diagrams, it's 7 different steps. You can get away with fewer diagrams if the directions are clear. This one does a fairly good job with 4 diagrams and good explanations of each step.One problem is that sometimes there is a disconnect between the fiber and needle and the fabric, as if you are doing some of the stitches in the air! It would be very helpful if the directions for each each referred to the fabric it's embroidering because the stitch count is crucial: some stitches must be done over 2 or 4 threads on linen or evenweave whereas others are suitable for aida. Some are useful only for counted stitching and some only for surface stitching. One thing the book does fairly well is show the differences between running or double running stitch, outline stitch and stem stitch, all of which create a line. But each line has a slightly different "look" and is distinguished by the direction the working thread is held and the closeness of each stitch. I think I will get some good use from the booklet.

I recently started to again do some hand embroidery, after many years. And, I wanted a stitch reference guide that I could carry along with me. I had ordered a much more expensive, spiral bound book that was gorgeous, and had lots of intricate stitches. But, it lacked the basics. So, I ordered this and it's perfect. The diagrams are easy to follow, and they contain the most common embroidery stitches. It's small enough to slip into my tote of embroidery projects, so it's always right at hand, if I need a refresher on a particular stitch.

I've done basic embroidery in the past but wanted to learn 'real' embroidery and all the cool stitches. I bought more expensive, really beautiful books and they're great but I wish I had bought this one first. This book is perfect. Actually it's a booklet. Very small in size but the diagrams are large enough for my bad eyesight and easy to follow. There's easy to follow text next to each diagram as well. Dont let the low price or small size fool you. This is a great reference booklet and easy to carry around in your bag.

This is precisely what I wanted; a small, quick reference for some stitches. Not a big reference volume to flip through - so it's a good refresher. I have a different book for more details and projects, and this one is so easy to use for a reminder if I forgot a stitch. I am just learning embroidery and find this very helpful.

This is definitely pocket sized! It’s smaller (and the binding consists of 3 staples) than I’d anticipated. I bought this book for when I’m out and want to do a bit of stitching, but don’t want to be bothered to watch YouTube videos. It is a clear guide with detailed instructions (both images and write ups), and it will fit in my small purse. I’m not sure it was worth the price, but I’m keeping anyway. For photo reference, I have fairly small hands with size 4.5 ring finger.

A great book of embroidery stitches with directions and pictures, and it's small (4"x6") enough to carry in a bag or box that you carry your scissors and floss in.

Great little book to put into the handwork bag you take with you when you anticipate have to wait. I reminds you how to make those stitches you seldom use. It describes the making of each stitch and suggests some of the most common uses of each one. Not extensive but clear and includes the most common stitches for embroidery and crewel work.

Not exactly what I was thinking - all line drawings with no finished and in color photos. A little hard for me to visualize. Good price though.

I love Liz Climo's comics. I follow her on Instagram so prior to receiving this calendar, I was already pretty familiar with some of her characters, little jokes, etc. Turning the page to a new day/comic is the highlight of my workday mornings. My colleague loves them too and makes me wait for her to come visit before we look at the new day's comic. My only critique is that a lot of the comics are her previously published material; so if you have one of her books or follow her on Instagram like I do, you'll see repeats.

I love Liz Climo! She has such a great way of viewing the world. The cartoons are so sweet and funny. They are inclusive and about embracing differences while not pretending that everyone is the same. I have bought the last few day-to-day calendars and a few of the books. These make great gifts for people who keep up with desk calendars. I was a little disappointed though that a number of the cartoons were recycled from previous calendars. But it's still Liz Climo and I adore her work.

So cute and simple and sweet! This book would make a lovely gift for anyone in the world. I love how a lot of the comics don't even have words, so they could be understood in any language. I'm keeping it out on my coffee table because everyone who reads it finds it so charming.

I tried to buy this calendar last year and was very sad it had sold out around the Holidays. Therefore I bought mine in July 2017 for 2018! I'm keeping it wrapped up until the New Year but I follow Liz Climo on Instagram and online and she makes consistently funny and heartwarming illustrations.

I was looking for a Calvin & Hobbes or Far Side daily calendar when I stumbled upon the little world of liz climo. I love it! Everyone at work reads it and tells me they want me to save certain days for them. I like to use these daily calendars as scratch paper at work, but I can’t bring myself to throw them away. And it’s only February...

Was excited for the 2018 after enjoying 2017. So far, 3 of the 10 comics we're repeats that I remembered. I am very disappointed and not as excited for this year's calendar.

Liz Climo definitely has a unique sense of humor. Found her work by coincidence when we spotted a 365 day calendar on sale. The calendar kept us laughing. The book did the same, but the downside of the book is that it contained many of the same comics in the 365 page a day calendar. Love the cute animal illustrations and personifications. Kid and family friendly.

I am OBSESSED with my daily calendar. It’s one of the first things I do after arriving to work, and 8/10 times makes me laugh out loud. If you’re an animal lover, this is the calendar for you! Good quality, and the built in stand is awesome. Would recommend and buy again.
