Michale Lang is Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. Michale has written extensively for exhibitions and professional journals and has a Master of Arts in Historic Resource Management and a Master of Education in Administration and Curriculum Development from Gonzaga University. She is the author of two books published by RMB, in conjunction with the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies: An Adventurous Woman Abroad: The Lantern Slides of Mary T.S. Schaffer and Bears: Tracks through Time.

WHEN TRAVELING IN THE CANADIAN ROCKIES THIS SUMMER HEARD ABOUT MARY T SCHAFFER AND WANTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HER LIFE. AFTER READING OLD INDIAN TRAILS, WANTED TO SEE SOME OF THE PHOTOS THAT SHE TOOK. WASN'T DISAPPOINTED.
So happy these pictures were documented for all to see. A great woman.
Wonderful images from lantern slides taken by an amazing lady - Mary T.S Schaffer. The text is equally captivating. My hat's off to this important historical and artistic book. I hope to retrace her steps someday with my Pony Premo 6 4x5 camera and imagine what it was like in the Canadian Rockies more than 100 years ago.
