They recommended that you hire someone to do the video work instead of doing it yourself, so they didn't spend much time on this aspect. They did list and describe a variety of video editing programs, but they provided only general information on the other equipment. If you want to know how to set up lighting, run a video camera, or use that editing software, they suggested looking it up on YouTube or certain magazine websites.I received an ebook review copy from the publisher through Netgalley.

This is a very good book about Kratom. It’s easy to read and gives you dosage guidance which is really helpful.

A helpful accessory for those of us that want to know more about the supplement we are taking or those curious about this wondrous plant. Short book though.

This book is super educational. I wasn’t expecting to learn as much as I did. I have also shared it with my parents as my dad suffers from arthritis.

No references given at all!! Poorly written and an Information was mostly correct, if a bit vague. Contradictory info re food or not and missing an entire discussion on ph, and the use of lemons and such to release activecompounds. .Some mistakes, like info about toss and wash, which is taking powder in dry form, will certainly have some poor novice choke on it. Nasty. If only he had cited all the sources he used, all would be worthwhile, but not to be. More and better info,with references, can be dug up on reddit/kratom

Nice overview of the country, well organized and very descriptive. I travel to Europe often and have used lonely planet before. I like the way they focus on details. Easy to read, good explanations of how to get to the towns via trains and buses. Included a nice map of Budapest.

This book came in very handy during my most recent trip to Hungary. Lonely Planet books are certainly at the top of tour books. I get them all the time.

My 1st grader had a book report to do on an assigned American Hero, and this was his assignment. I think this book is well put together and has some interesting facts, however there is a large portion dedicated to the civil war and slavery. I felt like this material was above what a first grader can really comprehend even though it was put into the most simple terms possible. I also don't think first graders have any business doing book reports though. If I were to do it again I think I'd just print out some information from online and let him use that as the material for his report. You certainly can find a wealth of information online and this skims the surface.

Great book! My son had to do a biography book report and wasn't thrilled about it. But I bought him this book and he actually got into it! He enjoyed reading it and got a lot of neat facts for his report. And he even enjoyed doing his book report. He is on a 2nd to beginning 3rd grade reading level.

we used this book to provide talking points for a three minute oral presentation in class.

Another great bio from National Geographic. Who doesn't love stories about Abe Lincoln? Good facts, interesting story and easy to read for struggling readers.

Great book, and the recipes work well if you're willing to think carefully about what some of the older terms mean, and learn how to measure in the pre-Fanny Farmer way. Don't, however, get it if you want modern recipes — you'll be disappointed. It's definitely old-fashioned food with directions for cooking it the old-fashioned way, down to instructions on how to set the damper of your wood-burning stove. The Gold Cake is especially good, and the breakfast cream cake was a pleasure to eat.

This book is a fascinating window into the "Big House" kitchens of the south. Written (dictated, actually, as Mrs. Fisher could not write) in 1881 by a former slave who was proud of her skills, it includes directions on how to pickle, preserve, and prepare amazingly elegant food in the kitchens *before* the turn of the century - using wood stoves, fireplaces, and iceboxes but nothing we'd recognize as refrigeration. Really interesting - a book you can learn a thing or two from!

Love this book - great history, great voice, and inspiration for our cooking at home. So interesting to read about how the misinterpretations of the woman who wrote it up for her (not understanding Mrs Fisher's Southern accent) resulted in things miswritten, such as Circuit Hash instead of Succotash. Can't wait to try the recipes, especially the preserves!

I was a bit disappointed in this cookbook. First of all, I expected something larger than what looks like a Scholastic children's book. Next, I expected more about the actual author but there was hardly anything. Oh well, I guess for $9 you get what you pay for, huh? There are better vintage African American cookbooks out there. I suppose it was ok for the1800s.

very good and simple recipes. it took me a bit to realize why the cooking temps were not annotated then it hit me, this was written in the late 1800s and they didn't cook with anything but fire. i really like it and look forward to trying the recipes.

Nothing too unheard of, fun to read. I may try a few of the recipes. Beat(en) Biscuit is also in Fanny Farmer 1896 edition. I made that once just for fun. They were kinda weird, good in soup. Like really hard crackers. Maybe I screwed it up though.

Recipes are not easy to follow. Hard to gather items without a list before instructions. It was difficult for mom to use.

Great piece of history, but not written as a cookbook as we know it. Be prepared to do a bit of research on certain things.

It's rare in the technical "how-to" genre to find a book as well done as this one. It truly is awesome. Photodex ProShow has long been one of the staples for those who produce or wanted to produce high-class slide shows. Over the years, the product, along with everything else it seems, tended more and more toward becoming a multimedia platform. A few years back, this trend reached fruition in the immensely powerful ProShow Producer. The problem was that both programs had more power than was adequately explained in the supplied help files. Don't get me wrong: Photodex provided great help files (as well as great support). It's just that programs, particularly ProShow Producer are capable of so much. At last to the rescue comes James Karney with this masterpiece of a "how-to" book. Every aspect of using ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer is explained through text and examples on the supplied CD. Karney explains his goal on the first page of the introduction: ProShow is "easy to use", but hard to master. "The novice can create a slide show in a minutes, but crafting a real multimedia production requires learning how to use special effects, keyframes, and output formats." Karney covers all these subjects and far more in 13 chapters and 340 pages. As someone in the industry who must read dozens of technical books of the "how-to" variety, I know that most of the titles are just adequate and many are awful. It is truly refreshing to encounter someone like Karney who not only truly mastered his subject instead of just recycling the help file, but can also write. This is his 24th book. Karney begins with the basics and then builds step-by-step into more elaborate productions using more and more of ProShow's features. One of the features, keyframing, is extremely versatile and Karney cleverly comes back to it repeatedly as he shows how increasingly sophisticated use of keyframing enables you to create more sophisticated productions. If you own PhoShow Gold or Producer, you need this book to get the most out of either program. If you don't own them, but need a dependable, incredibly powerful multimedia creation engine, then you need to check ProShow out - trial copies are included on the book's CD and are, of course, downloadable from the publisher's site. Either way, you definitely need this book to learn how to get everything you can out of ProShow. Simply put, this book is a gem and beautifully complements a powerful program.Jerry

This is a book that is insightful and well written. Using ProShow can be daunting, and this book details just how to get the most out of its many features. Unfortunately, shortly after this book was published, Photodex introduced version 4 and gave ProShow a complete new look, which means many of the references in this book to where items are located are already out of date. This is really ironic because Photodex hyped this book for months before it was published. ". . . click the 'whatever' button in the upper left corner," means nothing, because ProShow moved or changed whatever it is you need to click. Now it's up to the user to try and find it. Too bad, as I said, the book is well written, but it badly needs to be updated. Shame on Photodex for not telling the author the look of the program was due for an immediate change.

I have been using Proshow Gold for several years and recently got Producer. This did sound like it was a good solution for getting up to speed quickly, but has been a disappointment from the start. It is like several other reviews have stated, full of errors and part of the problem is not addressing the current version (Producer 4). The panels shown must be from 3.0 not 4.0. Add the fact that the help provided in Proshow is is seriously lacking makes this book of questionable value. What Proshow is capable of producing is wonderfull, but figuring it out is a real trial. As written this book is totally useless and a waste of money. The author should look at one of the Photoshop Real World series and learn how to create a book that TEACHES enough to get started. If you are considering purchasing this book, think twice and look for something else.

Pro Show is a program that lets you use your imagination to create great presentations a la Ken Burnes (Civil War, The War) It includes a CD with all the files for the different tutorials. With this book you'll learn the insides and out of such a wonderful program. The tutorials are very well written and cover all the major features of the program; published in color and using excellent paper. Exquisitely done. After reading cover to cover and spending some time going through the tutorials, you'll be making spectacular presentations. Enjoy!

This book is full of great tips for Proshow however, it is outdated and many of the screen shots no longer match. If you learn well by following step-by-step instructions then it is a wonderful tool. The author does an excellent job of explaining the what, why and how. I was disappointed to find that the website for the author hasn't been updated in a while but I am aware that life happens and all too often we move on to other projects.

The Official Photodex Guide to ProShow has a lot of information. A lot of it I didn't know, so I learned a lot from it.The book has some errors and omissions that are detailed on the authors website and there is a promise that these errors will be corrected in the second printing.
